Dear readers! It’s been a while. Over the past few months, Dani and I have been dedicating ourselves to learning the art of printing and creating handmade cards. After countless rounds of trial and error, we finally got the hang of it and managed to print a collection of mini cards and zines that we’re both really proud of.

At the end of the year, we were lucky enough to secure a spot at the long-running DIY Art Market in London. Every time we take part, we come away with so much inspiration, and this time was no exception. It was the Christmas 2024 market, and aside from the freezing weather, the crowd was way bigger than we had expected!

The little video I’ve put together captures footage spanning over five months, as Dani and I not only had to learn how to operate riso printing but also understand how designing for riso differs from traditional digital illustration. There was a lot of trial and error involved—figuring out the correct sequence for making masters (similar to screen printing stencils) and choosing the right color combinations all required careful planning and experimentation.
In today’s blog, I also want to share two amazing books that helped me on my riso journey:

📖 The first one is an art book by Natalie Andrewson.
Her works are all created using risograph printing (so impressive!). This book not only showcases her creative process but also explains the fundamentals of riso printing in a super accessible way, using transparent overlays to illustrate different layers of color separation—such a brilliant design! She also shares a lot of misprints and color experiments, making it an incredibly insightful and visually stunning book.

📖 The second one is a practical guide we discovered at LCBA (London Centre for Book Arts).
It’s a step-by-step handbook on riso printing, packed with techniques, artist profiles, and inspiring riso-printed artworks. It’s an incredibly detailed and well-curated resource—definitely a must-have for anyone interested in riso!

As we step into a new year, I just wanted to say hello with this little video diary. What exciting plans do you all have for the year ahead? I hope we can all continue to learn, grow, and create together! 🫶
